Legal protection of the rights of military personnel and veterans: Joint efforts by the NSJU and the Council of Europe

On 11 June 2026, the Vice-Rector of the National School of Judges of Ukraine, Nataliia Shuklina, together with a team of specialists from the School, held a working meeting with representatives of the Council of Europe’s project ‘Rights of Veterans and Personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’ – Anastasiia Saliuk, Head of Section in the Department of Human Rights and Judicial Cooperation at the Council of Europe Office in Strasbourg, and Lidiia Striltsova, Senior Project Officer at the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine.

During the meeting, the parties discussed promising areas for cooperation within the second phase of the project, which is scheduled for implementation in 2027. Particular attention was paid to developing a framework for future cooperation between the National School of Judges of Ukraine and the Council of Europe project, aimed at strengthening judges’ capacity to ensure the proper protection of the rights of military personnel, veterans and their families.
